Congress Vacation Shuts Down CDC Just In Time for Flu Season

According to a recent CBS news report, the Congress-initiated government shutdown has placed the majority of CDC employees on unpaid leave for an unspecified period of time.

Thanks to this development, the CDC's ability to track infectious disease outbreaks will be severely compromised.

This means that we could have a national flu, salmonella, measles or Hep A outbreak any day now and be completely ill-equipped to track and fight it. Welcome back to 1918!

Thanks, Congress. Public health fail.
